Tyn Lôn Farmhouse Renovation, Anglesey

Ty’n Lon was a typical farmhouse with attached shippon. The shippon was in good structural condition but one gable end and both the front and rear walls of the main housewere unsafe.

These were taken down to first floor level and stabilised with a reinforced concrete ring beam. The walls were then rebuilt in cavity blockwork with stone facing. All the remaining stonework was pointed in lime mortar and finished with limewash.

New sliding sash windows were made and fitted to the main house and a more modern style
made to fit the shippon and extension.

The inside of the house was completely refurbished and a bespoke kitchen fitted.

A solar heating system was installed and walls and roofs insulated with reclaimed newspaper and sheep’s wool.
